AmeriCorps Members help Nine Star by providing thousands of hours of labor each year. AmeriCorps Members serve many more people than Nine Star could alone. Thank you!
Benefits of serving as an AmeriCorps member
AmeriCorps Members through individual involvement improve lives and strengthen communities. Members provide direct service to address individual and community needs such as tutoring, mentoring, employment assistance, prisoner re-entry, workshops, and education.
AmeriCorps membership is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents age 17 and older. Members serve full or part time over a 12-month period. Upon successful completion of their service, Members receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of up to $4,725 to pay for college or graduate school or to pay back qualified student loans. During term of service, Members receive health coverage, training, student loan deferment, and a modest monthly stipend. Members who serve part time receive a partial AmeriCorps Education Award.

Nine Star's mission is to develop Alaska's workforce through basic skills education, work readiness, job skills training, computer instruction and management level consulting. We help Alaskans get a job, keep a job, and advance on the job.
